Russia Attacks Ukraine With 40 Missiles, Drones In Deadly Overnight Strike

Kyiv, Ukraine: Overnight, Russia initiated numerous attacks on Ukraine, with the Ukrainian air force reporting a total of 40 enemy air attack incidents on Saturday. The air force successfully neutralized eight missiles and noted that the assault included various weapons such as cruise, ballistic, and anti-aircraft missiles, along with the deployment of drones.

The Ukrainian air force emphasized that more than 20 devices failed to reach their intended targets, attributing this to active measures taken through electronic warfare. Yuri Ignat, a spokesperson, clarified that these devices either fell in open areas, were detonated in the air, or were impacted by the radio-electronic warfare capabilities of Ukraine’s defense forces.

As of now, there have been no reported fatalities. However, in the northeastern Sumy region, a missile attack caused injuries to one civilian and damaged 26 buildings, according to Ukraine’s prosecutor general. The governor of Chernigiv in the northern region mentioned undisclosed damages, and in the central Poltava region, an unexploded missile landed in a residential house’s backyard.

Concerns escalated as Ukraine’s neighbor, Poland, briefly activated air defense systems due to the heightened threat level. Additionally, Russian artillery targeted Ukrainian territory close to the frontline.

In southern Kherson, shelling resulted in injuries to a civilian in Beryslav on the shores of the Dnipro river. The region’s governor, Oleksandr Prokudin, reported that a 71-year-old woman was found under the rubble of an apartment building and is receiving medical assistance.
